He joined the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland in April 2012, and currently serves as a tenured Senior Researcher at the centre. Dr. Chen has been named on Stanford University's list of the World's Top 2% Scientists in 2021, 2022 and 2023. He is the recipient of the 2023 Exemplary Editor Award of IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking, the 2021 IEEE Communications Society Outstanding Paper Award, the 2021 Best Paper Award of IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and multiple Best Paper Awards from international academic conferences. |

His research interests include Generative AI, distributed collaborative machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), edge intelligence for the metaverse, mobile and distributed computing, and wireless networks, among others. Currently, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief (EiC) of IEEE Transactions on Network Science and Engineering. In addition, he holds the position of Area Editor for IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology (TVT), IEEE Communications Surveys & Tutorials (COMST), and IEEE Internet of Things Journal (IoTJ). He also works as an Associate Editor for a series of prestigious journals, including IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (TWC), IEEE Transactions on Information Forensics and Security (TIFS), IEEE Transactions on Services Computing (TSC), IEEE Transactions on Cognitive Communications and Networking (TCCN), and ACM Computing Surveys, as well as a Guest Editor for IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications.
